China’s Yunnan province recently revealed that it is implementing a blockchain-powered solution which will use decentralized technology to issue invoices to tourists.

The project was announced on July 20, 2019 at the Digital Yunnan Blockchain International Forum in Kunming. The first international Yunnan blockchain event welcomed over 1,000 guests from governments, research institutions and leading information and communication technology companies from more than 10 countries.

Issuing DLT Invoices at Tourist Attractions

Yunnan province disclosed that with the program, tourists can submit applications for invoices through their smartphones. The invoices will be processed and delivered to tourists’ email inboxes within 48 hours. Moreover, DLT will ensure that the information is accurate and transparent.

According to the organizing committee of the blockchain forum, the objective of the program is to save costs incurred from printing paper invoices for tourist attractions in the province.

China Seeking Blockchain Standards

Chinese authorities are increasingly promoting blockchain for businesses across the nation, while planning to set a standard for DLT. According to CCN, government officials in China are currently working on a standard for blockchain.

In an interview published in Xinhua’s Economic Information Daily, a government press agency, an official from the Electronic Industry Standards Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed it is cooperating with numerous stakeholders to set a national standard for DLT.

With this standard, the ministry expects to further drive adoption of decentralized technology in public and private sectors across various industries.
