Stablecoins in Mass Market Ecosystems

March 13, 2019

On Sunday, March 17th, Asia Blockchain Review is pleased to announce a coffee talk, “Stablecoins in Mass Market Ecosystems”. We’re collaborating with TomoChain, Stably, and Infinity Blockchain Ventures to explore the applications and roles of stable coins in crypto markets.

This coffee talk with TomoChain and Stably will feature two key speakers:

  • Kory Hoang is the Co-founder and CEO of Stably, the founder of StableUSD (USDS), a stablecoin pegged to the US Dollar and legally backed by bank accounts managed by the firm. Stably raised US$1.7 million after its first funding round and USDS is currently listed on Binance with a daily exchange volume of over US$1 million a day. Kory is a quant who has consulted for money managers, hedge funds, and CTAs on several subjects from VIX derivatives to cryptocurrencies and algorithmic trading. Before Stably, he worked as a Private Equity Data Analyst for PitchBook in Seattle. Kory will discuss what stablecoins can bring to the table, as well as what a stablecoin project needs to be financially viable. Stablecoins are cryptocurrencies that are designed to minimize the effects of price volatility, one of the most pressing issues of the crypto climate.
  • Long Vuong is the Founder and CEO of TomoChain, a public blockchain infrastructure providing an innovative solution to the scalability problem of the Ethereum blockchain. As a blockchain guru and economist, Long has advised for a number of blockchain projects all around the world and contributed to affirm this technology’s value by developing practical products. Long previously co-founded and headed up the eminently successful NEM blockchain (New Economy Movement) in 2014. He will discuss decentralized exchanges (DEX) – cryptocurrency exchanges that operate in a decentralized way or without a central authority. DEXs allow peer-to-peer trading of digital currencies, greatly reducing the risk of hacking or theft.

We hope to see fellow blockchain professionals and enthusiasts at these in-depth discussions this March 17th, 2019 at the TomoChain Hanoi Office, Floor 17, Tower C, 219 Trung Kinh, Hanoi. Registration is from 9:00 – 9:30am, and the event runs until 11:30 am.
