Philippine Blockchain Game Developer Lends Industry Insights

Asia Blockchain Review
July 1, 2019

Luna Javier, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Altitude Games based in Manila, the Philippines, opened up about navigating her way through the blockchain community, major trends to come, and her advice for developers in the blockchain gaming community.

“I ended up in the industry by accident”

Javier entered the gaming industry in 2002 as a game writer and taught game design at De La Salle University, Manila, speaking at numerous gaming conferences.

She revealed that she did not mean to become a game developer from the start but took the opportunity as it occurred.

“I ended up in the industry by accident, I wanted to be a screenwriter. My first job out of college was as a writer for the first Philippine-made computer game. I fell in love with game writing and ended up becoming a game designer, producer, and now creative director,” Javier said.

Trends to Come and Advice for Blockchain Game Developers

As for her opinion on the next big thing in the community, Javier said, “Blockchain gaming is only going to get bigger! And the user experience will become easier. I look forward to being able to play blockchain games that are just as easy to pick up and play as any other game.”

Her advice for people who want to enter the community is to gather as much experience as possible, saying that they should go to gaming conventions and create prototypes or designs of their own.

“There’s so much information available now, and all sorts of free tools, “Javier noted. “What we’re looking for is someone with the drive to figure things out and do the hard work, because that’s what game development is like day to day.”
