Oracle partner NTT Data is seeing massive potential in the Philippines market, with the Southeast Asian country showing greater enthusiasm for digital transformation, even as challenges still remain.

According to Channel Asia, an IDC report commissioned by Microsoft indicated that digital transformation is projected to add US$8 billion to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) by the year 2021.

More specifically, NTT Data Philippines sees much potential in the nation’s healthcare sector for technology providers, as the gap widens between a rising population with ever-increasingly complex healthcare needs and the number and availability of solutions from providers.

Christer Cruz, Director of solutions consulting and infrastructure services at NTT Data Philippines, said, “NTT Data has a solution to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) together with deep learning to understand patterns and predict occurrences.”

Opportunities for IT infrastructure modernization present themselves in other sectors as well, with Cruz seeing three main areas of focus for the solution provider consulting services, enterprise resource planning, and digital capability and intelligent cloud.

NTT Data is an Oracle Platinum partner, having worked closely with the vendor to cultivate the firm’s market presence in the Philippines.

Cruz has cited a growing acceptance of digital innovations in the country, such as cloud technology, with local companies investing in emerging technologies. These include blockchain, AI, ML, and robotic process automation.

Nevertheless, challenges persist regarding how to upgrade existing customers with legacy infrastructure to new solutions and manage costs. The objective is to move such customers to the cloud, where they will have greater flexibility and autonomy.
