Kuala Lumpur to play host to the 2nd Cities 4.0 Conference and Exhibition to spreadhead smart city framework in Malaysia and the region

Kuala Lumpur will once again play host to the Cities 4.0 Conference and Exhibition from September 23rd – 24th, 2019 at Istana Hotel Kuala Lumpur to spearhead a smart city framework among ASEAN countries. This event is expected to be graciously opened by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

By 2050, over 70% of the world population will be living in cities covering less than 2% of the earth’s surface. Never have cities been so challenged, and the trend continues to grow. This phenomenon gives rise to many issues — rising inequality, environmental pollution, infrastructure access, traffic congestion, mobility, safety, and public health are only a few examples.

Cities of the future should be hyper connective, technologically equipped, and smart to improve the lives of its residents. The development and synergism of new technologies, such as the Internet of Things, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, offer a multitude of solutions to transform cities to promote economic development, improve infrastructure and the environment, enhance public services, engage with citizens, and optimize the costs of managing public assets.

Co-organized by Human Life Advancement Foundation (HLAF) and Confexhub Group, the second edition of Cities 4.0 aims to provide an interactive platform for governments, municipalities, urban planners, urban futurists, developers, solution providers, and innovators to converge and make a positive impact in shaping resilient and sustainable cities. Under the theme, “Unlocking Functional and Sustainable Cities,” Cities 4.0 will be bringing in experts in technology, data analysis, communications and connectivity, services and integration, and business and finance to connect with city leaders. Together, they will explore and align goals, objectives, and business models as part of a smart cities ecosystem alliance.

The key themes of Cities 4.0 are as follows:

  • Digital Transformation — Big Data, IoT, Augmented Analytics, Digital Twins, Cyber Forensics, Privacy, Blockchain
  • Smart Governance — e-Government, Data Transparency, Public Safety
  • Smart Economy — Cashless City, Machine Learning, Smart Space, Connected Factories
  • Smart Environment — Infrastructure, Connectivity, Transportation, Water & Waste, Energy
  • Smart Living — Smart Home, Ride Share, Autonomous, Smart Wearables, Smart Health
  • Smart Citizen — Inclusion, Engagement, Immersive Experience

According to the organizers, over 400 international and local delegates will converge and meet face-to-face with industry experts. They will share experiences and best practices; recommend solutions, and get connected with industry peers.

The two-day conference with over 20 paper presentations aims to expose participants to essential information and strategies to adopt digital transformation in city planning and development and improve efficiency and services for smart citizens. Held alongside the conference is the Cities 4.0 Exhibition which will showcase the latest smart city technologies and solutions.

One of the highlights of the event is one-on-one business matching meetings between technology solutions providers and potential smart city project owners / municipal councils to map their city transformation roadmap. This will be an effective channel for technology solutions providers to secure and expand their market outreach and for project owners to source the best vendors and consultancies.

To sign up for the limited conference seats, contact the secretariat at [email protected]. Admission to the exhibition is FREE. For more information about Cities 4.0, log on to www.cities4pointzero.com.
