Bezant, a provider of Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) on the Hyperledger Fabric blockchain, made an announcement on its website that Korea Prepaid Card is investing in the blockchain startup, becoming its second-biggest shareholder.

Korea Prepaid Card, an end-to-end solution provider for prepaid cards, vouchers, virtual cards, pin-code cards, and barcode-based coupons, is the latest company to have taken an interest in blockchain startups. The Korean firm has reportedly been working on its own blockchain technology to connect business partners to access the prepaid value chain in real-time.

Strong South Korean Business Connections

Bezant has significant ties to South Korea. Daesik Kim, the company’s Chief Cryptocurrency Officer, is also Co-founder of Bithumb, a South Korean exchange ranked 17th in the world (by reported volume) according to CoinMarketCap.

Jeyce Jung, Lead Engineer for Bezant, was formerly the lead software developer at KakaoPay with an expertise in fraud detection.

Notable strategic partnerships include South Korean fintech company Hanjudo and South Korean database management company Chequer.

Bezant Expands Rapidly Across Asia

According to Yahoo! News, Bezant has also engaged in several partnerships with Asian firms. These include Thailand’s Nova Learning and peer-to-peer lender Transwiz.

In June 2019, Bezant revealed that it would be joining Binance. Its cryptocurrency BZNT initiated trading on Binance DEX on July 7th, 2019. BZNT ranks 320th in terms of capitalization at approximately US$8 million.

The company also disclosed that last year, Bezant was recognized as one of the fastest-growing initial coin offerings (ICOs) in Asia, with tokens selling out in under an hour.
