Kerala Blockchain Academy Invites Students to Join ‘Decentralised’ Network

Kerala Blockchain Academy (KBA), a government initiative under the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala (IIITM-K), has announced its partnership with the University of Nicosia (UNIC) and Block.co – a blockchain startup based in Cyprus – that will jointly introduce the ‘Decentralised’ India Chapter of the Kerala Blockchain Academy Innovation Club (KBAIC) to students at KBA.

Connecting to Global Blockchain Communities

As reported by Business Standard, ‘Decentralised’ is a student network focusing on blockchain education that is supported by UNIC, with members and communities in various countries.

The launch of the network at KBA is expected to help students gain exposure to blockchain development by “seizing opportunities to work closely with members of Decentralised,” according to an official statement.

Propelling Kerala as an Asian Blockchain Hub

Dr. Chandrasekaran Pandurangan, Professor at IIT Madras, revealed that blockchain is gaining more traction among the tech industry due to its uses cases that can provide many new solutions.

“We must be able to tap its potential to give a new dimension to the industry. It’s laudable that KBA in partnering with University of Nicosia has taken the right steps for achieving its primary goal of becoming the blockchain hub of the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Saji Gopinath, CEO of Kerala Startup Mission, called the initiative a key step in driving Kerala as a blockchain hub in India and possibly Asia.

“This partnership can be of great benefit to students and young entrepreneurs of our state,” he noted.
