INFINITY BLOCKATHON 2020 LAUNCH MEET-UP: TOTAL SUCCESS!

On the 24th of June 2020, Infinity Blockchain Ventures and Asia Blockchain Review had organized a warm reunion after the Covid-19 lockdown in which entrepreneurs, technology players and the innovation community joined together to discuss the topic “City Transformation For The New Normal”. The event marked the official announcement for the launch of the “Infinity Blockathon 2020 for City Transformation” event.

At the kickoff event, Mr Cris D. Tran – CEO of IBV, spoke to the audience, saying, “we aim to encourage, explore creative and innovative ideas developing in Vietnam throughout the Blockathon 2020 competition…in order to achieve this, Vietnam should not only be a tech production hub with abundant human resources but also be the first place to receive benefits from those innovative outcomes…therefore, during the contest, participants will have the opportunities to solve evident problems from real-life cases in our country”.

Blockathon 2020 encourages creativity and innovation through a crowdsourcing method – one of the most effective methods to collect ideas, technology solutions from different and fresh perspectives to resolve organizational and community problems.

A meet-up took place in the form of a panel discussion by the moderator and panelists from New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, KPMG & TMA Alliance, AIA Vietnam, Institute of Smart City and Management UEH, Zone Startups to share their thoughts and opinions with regards to digital transformation from the perspective of governments, corporate institutions, startups, academic establishments and consulting firms.

The 45-minute panel session concentrated on three crucial topics including the urgency of digital transformation during the Covid-19 pandemic; challenges on conducting digital transformation; and methods of improvements and preparations for substantial digital transformation efforts.

While giving insights into tactics that could be conducted to adapt to potentially chaotic situations, Mr. Le Duy Duc (Steve) – Head of Trade Development Department of New Zealand Trade & Enterprise and Dr. Trinh Tu Anh – Director of Institute of Smart City and Manager (University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City), emphasized the importance of entrepreneur adaptability before rearranging workflow and management models that will fit in with the unexpected economic conditions that everyone finds themselves in today.

Moreover, in the overall progress of resolving a dilemma, “mindset is something that is unlikely to change and only if company leaders successfully unlock the key and herald solutions, so that digital transformation can be done smoothly” – said Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha – Business Development and Partnership Manager of AIA Vietnam.

As for Ms. Ha’s viewpoint, the discussion shifted its focus to digital transformation solutions and innovation matters. At KPMG, according to Mr. Phan Tan Quoc – Innovation Program Manager of KPMG, the company established an innovation platform which allows attendants living in any region to take part in their conference/workshop, thus, new improvements and innovation are now even accessible to small and remote businesses too.

Being a startup foundation director, Ms. Quynh Vo, the Zone Startups Director, used the phrase “Think in the box” which stands for the work of selecting and using company resources before conducting outsourcing. This was a refreshing perspective for all involved.

To conclude, the meet-up not only displayed scenarios for the importance of digital transformation and the official return of a national scale event in the ecosystem, but it also paved a way forward towards a technology & innovation community reunion too.

All in all, the INFINITY BLOCKATHON 2020 LAUNCH MEET-UP was a TOTAL SUCCESS!
