Huobi Hosts Blockchain Event Attended by Foreign Govt Officials

Huobi crypto exchange hosted an event on the digital economy and blockchain in Hainan, China, on December 5-6. 

The International Cooperation Forum on Digital Economy and Blockchain was attended by high-level Chinese officials, foreign dignitaries and Huobi executives. The main topic of discussion was the development of the blockchain industry and digital economy worldwide.

Belt and Road Nations Share Blockchain Insights 

Held at the Ritz Carlton and Renaissance Hotel in Haikou, the event aimed to promote blockchain as well as digital economy cooperation at the international level. According to Huobi, this government-supported forum brought together “local and foreign officials and business leaders from countries along the Belt and Road to promote blockchain technology and drive international cooperation in the emerging digital economy.” More than a dozen countries were represented at the forum, including Russia, Malaysia, Thailand, Gibraltar, Nigeria and Argentina.

Shen Shaoming, Governor of Hainan Province, and Cai Esheng, Vice Chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, gave opening addresses on the first day of the event. Huobi also announced its “Global Digital Financial Thinktank” at the forum.

Agreement between Blockchain Firms and Govts

The event’s discussion topics ranged from emerging opportunities of the digital economy to the risks of blockchain technology. The highlight of the forum was the signing ceremony between Chinese blockchain enterprises and representatives of Belt and Road nations.

Huobi China CEO Yuan Yuming called the International Cooperation Forum on Digital Economy and Blockchain “an opportunity to demonstrate to business and government leaders opportunities for collaboration using our cutting-edge technology and infrastructure.”

Chinese branch of Huobi Group recently became a member of a China government-backed blockchain alliance.
