The latest Unblock Tokyo organized by BINARYSTAR Japan and Asia Blockchain Review on October 5th, 2019 in Tokyo, Japan was a resounding success, welcoming all players and members of the blockchain and crypto community in Japan and beyond.

Exploring Ideas and Visions for Blockchain

The one-day event assembled speakers from leading companies in the blockchain and crypto space, including OmiseGO, MakerDAO, Blockstack, Harmony, Ontology, Dapp.com, RSK, and NEO. 

The speakers updated the community on their latest projects while sharing insights into the most pressing topics of the crypto and blockchain industry, such as the evolving STO landscape in Japan and Asia as well as the rise of Decentralized Finance (DeFi).

Spotlight on Protocols, Platforms, and DeFi

Among the talks and panel discussions at the event was “The Future of Blockchain Protocols and Platforms” joined by Emurgo CEO Yosuke Yoshida, Ontology Co-founder Andy Ji, and SBI R3 Japan Director Munetoshi Yamada and moderated by Norbert Gehrke of FinMirai.

Another key session that drew much interest from the audience was the DeFi-focused discussion by panelists Heslin Kim, Head of Asia at Tokeny; Soravis Srinawakoon, CEO & Co-founder of Band Protocol; and Gustav Arentoft, Representative for Business Development (Europe) at MakerDAO, moderated by Norbert Gehrke of FinMirai.

Event participants ranged from developers and entrepreneurs to experts, academics, and enthusiasts, who were keen to join discussions as well as an evening of meaningful networking, which truly brought the whole community together after a long day of activities. 

Unblock is a monthly meetup series discussing the hottest topics in blockchain to bring together key stakeholders and leading blockchain players for an eventful night of sharing and networking. We hope to continue fostering a strong community focusing on blockchain education and spreading awareness of how blockchain technology can positively impact our society.
