The French Ministry of National Education has revealed that high school students in the nation will get a chance to learn about cryptocurrency and Bitcoin in a new course that will be added to the public education system.
According to a report by Bitboycrypto, France’s Ministry of National Education will introduce a curriculum on cryptocurrency and Bitcoin that will explore the role of cryptocurrencies in the future, how to determine the trustworthiness of cryptocurrencies, and alternatives to fiat currency.
Cryptocurrencies are becoming more popular among investors in France. A French startup called Keplerk announced that it will relaunch a crypto payment platform in over 5,000 tobacco shops later in 2019.
Also in France, retailers are embracing cryptocurrencies, with over 30 retailers with more than 25,000 points of sale reportedly planning to accept payments in Bitcoin from 2020 onwards.
Leading international universities are adding courses on blockchain technology to their curriculum, with MIT, Cornell, and Stanford already offering blockchain courses.
The number of higher education institutes that offer at least one blockchain course has increased from 42% to 56% between 2018 and 2019.
Companies both large and small are also increasingly adopting blockchain technology to enhance the effectiveness of their operations, suggesting rising demand for employees with blockchain expertise in the near future.
As the technology gathers steam, governments around the world are recognizing the growing importance of cryptocurrencies and are taking a more proactive approach to regulating cryptocurrency-related activities.
