ConsenSys Opens Hong Kong Office to Drive Growth

March 23, 2019

Market-leading blockchain firm and venture development studio ConsenSys has announced the opening of its new office in Hong Kong, in pursuit of its growth plan that includes the employment of blockchain solutions architects and software developers.

According to the announcement, ConsenSys appointed Charles d’Haussy as Director for Strategic Initiatives and market lead for Hong Kong. In his new role with ConsenSys, d’Haussy is expected to build market strategy and operations.

ConsenSys stated that Hong Kong has a thriving financial service industry and a government that is supportive of new technologies. This special administrative region of China is consistently ranked as one of the world’s most open and competitive economies. As part of its plan to become a top financial destination in the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Kong initiated a HK$500 million fund last year to stimulate financial services, bolstering development in fintech, blockchain and digital assets.

In 2018, ConsenSys formed a partnership with leading Hong Kong-based financial services organizations, such as Nippon Wealth Bank, in an agreement to explore the application of ConsenSys Decentralized Applications (dApps) to create new products and services. In addition, the company joined hands with retailer Lane Crawford to bring transparency to transactions using an Ethereum blockchain solution.

Introducing the new chief of its Hong Kong office, the statement went on to say, “d’Haussy joins ConsenSys from InvestHK where he was the Head of FinTech for two and a half years, during which he oversaw the government agency’s development of Hong Kong as an attractive FinTech hub for international businesses and investors. He served 450 international FinTech companies and steered the growth of the HK FinTech Week, reaching over 10,000 global attendees.”

Joseph Lubin, the founder of ConsenSys and co-creator of Ethereum, remarked, “We are very pleased to have Charles join us and help us drive blockchain and Ethereum growth in Hong Kong.”

He added:

Hong Kong stands out for its continued legacy as a financial and trading hub strategically located in the heart of Asia and as an important conduit to mainland China. With his considerable experience and familiarity of the local FinTech, enterprise and government sectors, Charles is a strong leader to helm our next wave of growth across Asia Pacific.

ConsenSys describes itself a venture production studio and blockchain software development consultancy creating dApps, enterprise solutions and developer tools for blockchain ecosystems, focused primarily on Ethereum.
