India’s first blockchain platform to offer Video-on-Demand (VoD) called ‘myNK’ was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18th, 2019 by MinersINC, in a novel use case of the technology outside the banking and finance sectors.

New Channels of Distribution Made Possible with Blockchain

According to The-Blockchain, MinersINC revealed that the platform will offer a selection of over 200 films, comprising critically acclaimed and award-winning films from festivals including Tribeca, Cannes, and Sundance. It targets Indian film lovers looking to explore international cinema outside of Hollywood and Bollywood.

MinerINC also said the blockchain platform will open trusted and transparent revenue streams for films, while the overall film industry will benefit from a new platform that can reward all stakeholders in the value chain.

Blockchain Brings Transparency to Murky Film World

Apart from providing more content to audiences, the platform aims to tackle distribution challenges, lost monetization, non-transparent earnings, copyright issues, and breach of contract, while fostering a community in which audience members can give unbiased film reviews and ratings. Moreover, blockchain allows content to be shared securely, legally, and transparently.

MinersINC is a blockchain peer-to-peer platform that is aimed at creating an entertainment ecosystem that empowers all stakeholders and addresses some of the persistent issues in the entertainment industry in India.

‘myNK’ is specifically designed for the Indian market and will focus on implementing a community-driven approach to curating content such as movies and music for target audiences.
