Blockchain Conference Promotes Tokenization of Thai Real Estate

March 5, 2019

New York-based Elevated Returns (ER), a financial group focusing on digitizing conventional financial assets, is hosting DS Summit 2019 Thailand on March 11th in Bangkok in partnership with Tezos and Seamico Securities.

The conference is seeking to gather over 300 leaders, regulators, policymakers, executives, innovators, and investors in the blockchain industry to exchange views and ideas on opportunities in the country for the distributed ledger technology, as well as digital securities.

With the successful token sale of the St. Regis Aspen Resort, ER is looking to sell shares as digital tokens with a target of US$250 million in 2019, including a deal in Thailand worth US$100 million, as it seeks tokenize real estate on a global scale.

Securitize, the compliance partner of ER for transforming securities into digital tokens, is working to add support for Tezos to ensure that ER complies with securities and digital asset regulations. This will allow ER to push tokenized assets on Tezos under global regulatory conditions and use them on markets spanning the globe.

Securitize and Elevated Returns have collaborated to transition security token Aspencoin, which represents property ownership, to the Tezos blockchain. According to the two firms, the collaboration will result in US$1 billion worth of tokenized assets, with high-valued assets already in the pipeline.

ER’s Founder and President, Stephane De Baets, describes tokenization as a method through which real estate, art, stocks and other assets are turned into digital contracts on a blockchain system in the form of security tokens that can be traded.

According to him, the group has “huge ambitions” for bringing tokenization to the global real estate market, with a particular focus on educating the Thai market in tokenizing assets and the advantages of digital securities in the months to come.
