“Asia Blockchain Summit” Returns to Taipei in July, Sets the Stage for Intense Debate between Economist “Dr. Doom” & Blockchain Industry

“Asia Blockchain Summit 2019” (ABS 2019) is set to be held again in Taipei, Taiwan on July 2nd and 3rd. As the blockchain industry matures, this year’s summit will focus on the Asian market through the lens of global trends, with larger-scale adoption and better quality.

ABS 2019 will once again bring together blockchain market elites, senior officials of supervisory institutions, top developers, experts, and scholars to Taipei. The whole event is expected to sell 4,000 tickets at the full price of NT$4,500. Early bird tickets of only NT$1,500 are now on sale until June 1st, available from the official website, Huodingxing, and Accupass.com.

ABS Gathers Blockchain Elites for Platform between Industry and Government

According to the initial guest list, distinguished participants include Swedish super angel investor Dušan Stojanović, Litecoin Creator Charlie Lee, Binance Co-founder Yi He, Houbi Group CFO Chris Lee, SOSV General Partner William Bao Bean, Taiwan Mobile President Jamie Lin, Draper Dragon Partner Richard Wang, and IBM CTO Stanley Yong, who has over one and a half years of research experience in Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).

Other honored guests include Joshua Ashley Klayman, Founder of renown blockchain law firm Klayman LLC; Jack Lee, Founding Managing Partner of HCM Capital under Foxconn Technology Group; Philip Gradwell, Chief Economist of blockchain data analysis company Chainalysis; and Henri Arslanian, PwC FinTech & Crypto Leader for Asia.

Before the official start of the agenda, a launch ceremony will be held in June at the G20 Osaka Summit in Japan, kicking off the upcoming Taipei Blockchain Week. ABS 2019 will continue its tradition of serving as a communications platform between industry and government. Representatives from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and Western governments will also attend and engage in constructive dialogue.

Dr. Doom Joins Discussions for a Third-Party Perspective

The subject of “blockchain’s maximum” will be brought up at the meeting, expecting intense discussion over the nature of technology development and application. Nouriel “Dr. Doom” Roubini a Keynesian economist, New York University professor and columnist has also been invited to the summit. As a constant critic of blockchain and Bitcoin, Roubini will address the subject and talk about the future development of digital currency in the world economy from a third-party perspective, generating in-depth debates with distinguished guests.

The blockchain industry has experienced a sharp decline in the past year, but over the year-long stagnation, the market has gone in new directions in 2019. The commercial application of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) is moving past Proofs of Concept (PoCs), with more specific operating models emerging in Asian countries. Participants in cryptocurrency markets have begun to build solid infrastructures that are ready to embrace a large number of users to enter the market. Meanwhile, innovative fundraising models of security tokens continue to break through. The development and ecosystems of blockchain technology are diversifying, with Decentralized Finance (DeFi) beginning to flourish. Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain projects are going online, together with the continuous expansion of Second Layer (Layer 2) solutions. All these major issues will be discussed at this year’s summit.

Commercial Activities & Offline Communities Diversify Blockchain Ecosystem in East Asia

This year, ABS 2019 is also featuring more sideline events, including “the Binance Super Meetup,” which will take place at the end of the first day. For the first time, Binance Co-Founder Yi He, all the Binance Angels, and the Binance team will gather in Taipei, showcasing the rich community spirit of the blockchain space.

Last year, up to 4,000 people participated in ABS 2018, highlighting Taiwan’s role as a commercial and technological hub of East Asia. Lively interactions between guests from the host country and abroad have accelerated industrial development, commercial cooperation, and ecosystem diversity across different regions. This year, ABS 2019 will continue to maintain its high standards, presenting guests at the foremost blockchain platform
