As the pandemic wreaks havoc around the world, Malaysia has done quite an admirable job so far to quell the fallout and companies like SAP Malaysia are doing their bit to lend a hand to the efforts. We delve into this and more in our third installment of this exclusive interview series with K.C. Hong, Managing Director of SAP Malaysia.
As reported recently, SAP Malaysia has given the Malaysian Government complimentary use of its supply chain solution to drive efficiency and effectiveness in facilitating better healthcare services. Could you provide us with an overview of this undertaking?
“Throughout the MCO, SAP Malaysia has been extending various technologies to help local businesses cope within the new working environment,” he added. He went on to say that last month, Ernst & Young Advisory Services Sdn Bhd (EY Malaysia) implemented an application developed by SAP for government-linked companies and the government-linked investment companies disaster response network (“GDRN”) in support of Malaysia’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic. The SAP Customer Experience solutions, which include SAP Sales & Service Cloud, were implemented by EY Malaysia and delivered to GDRN within a week.
“The aim here is to provide optimum logistical support and response to organisations working to assist Malaysia’s Ministry of Health (MoH) supply ventilators and protective equipment to hospitals as well as other health-related organisations under its wings,” he noted. The application would also be instrumental in channelling pledges from institutions and individuals looking to contribute hospital-related items via an integrated platform. “We were just doing our part for the country, but it was nice to hear Yayasan Hasanah managing director Shahira Ahmed Bazari express her appreciation to EY Malaysia and SAP in stepping up for Malaysia during this critical time in the nation’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.
“We hope that with the SAP solution, we can help contribute towards better the coordination of the needs of the various government hospitals and facilities, including the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks and gloves,” he stated. From a tech perspective, intelligence and integration are key to a seamless supply chain and SAP is providing its technologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness in facilitating better healthcare services. “There are times, like these, when we all need to step up and help…we hope this helps local businesses move forward during this difficult time,” he explained.
It is widely known that SAP’s Digital Supply Chain Solutions along with its Ariba and Qualtrics solutions are essentially the axis of excellence when it comes to SCM solutions. Perhaps you could give your perspective on its significance to our readers during these trying times?
K.C. Hong said that using SAP Digital Supply Chain, SAP Ariba and Qualtrics solutions helps companies easily identify and address potential supply chain disruptions before they occur, identify alternative sources of supply and help move goods and cost more effectively. Over the past month, Qualtrics has developed 10 COVID-19 solutions supporting more than 31,000 projects across more than 8,500 organisations in 90 countries worldwide, including Malaysia. Among the complimentary offerings during the MCO is the Qualtrics Remote Work Pulse check survey and pre-configured report (both customisable) that can be sent on a daily/weekly basis to help teams succeed in this new environment.
Be sure to tune in to our 4th part of this interview series next week with K.C. Hong, Managing Director of SAP Malaysia.
