Kerala Blockchain Academy (KBA), under the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management – Kerala (IIITM-K), revealed that it has been selected as a general partner by R3 and will start introducing a developer training program on R3’s Corda blockchain from September 2019 onwards.
R3 — based in New York — is a provider of an enterprise blockchain platform that specializes in technological solutions for the banking and financial industry. The company also leads R3 consortium, an ecosystem of over 300 organizations seeking to promote further use cases for blockchain across various industries.
According to United News of India, KBA said the Corda blockchain certification program is targeted at tech professionals and those in the banking and financial industries. The training will also cover Corda App development.
Prior to its partnership with R3, KBA offered training on blockchain technologies including Ethereum and hyperledger. However, it is the first institution run by the Indian government to introduce a Corda blockchain developer course.
In recent years, several banks across India, including those in the Southern state of Kerala, have been integrating Corda blockchain-enable solutions to the country’s banking systems.
Meanwhile, R3’s Corda blockchain has allowed thousands of developers to build applications called CorDapps on the Corda platform. R3 revealed that as Corda is the “only open source blockchain platform built for business”, it allows businesses to “transact directly and in strict privacy using smart contracts, reducing transaction and record-keeping costs and streamlining business operations”.
