The Ministry of Information and Communication of the Republic of South Korea is inviting members of the general public to apply for position on its Blockchain National Participation Evaluation Team.
An announcement issued on March 17th, 2019 by the Ministry has asked interested individuals with a basic understanding of blockchain and distributed ledger technology to submit an application from now until April 15th, 2019. The ministry aims to involve citizens in the development of a joint public-private blockchain pilot project.
Kim Jung-Won, Director of Internet Convergence Policy at the Ministry, believes blockchain is a technology of involvement and communication. “Through the operation of the Blockchain People’s Participation Evaluation Team, more people are expected to have an opportunity to experience the effectiveness of the blockchain technology,” Kim said.
The statement went on to say that the Team will be tasked with offering its input on a variety of topics, such as the development process and experience, as well as supervise related activities under the project, serve as the government’s advocate to promote blockchain, and educate the South Korean public about its benefits through social network services (SNS).
It added,
The National People’s Participation Evaluation Team will be limited to this year, and excellent performers will be awarded at the end of the year.
According to BitcoinNews, 40 distributed ledger experts, both domestic and foreign, established a committee in 2018 to strategize the development of blockchain technology, with the ultimate goal of turning South Korea into a blockchain hub.
