Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, Leader of Thailand’s Future Forward Party and a rising star in the country’s political arena, recently visited Zug, Switzerland during a trip to seek innovation that can be adapted to drive development in Thailand, where he purchased Bitcoin using an ATM.

According to Siam Blockchain, the party leader was shown in a video clip testing a cryptocurrency ATM, where he purchased 0.01 BTC.

The ATM was located at Crypto Valley Labs, a blockchain co-working space. The machine offers services in five languages and allows users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies on the market, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum (ETH), and Monero (XMR).

After buying BTC, Thanathorn spoke with an assistant from Crypto Valley Labs, who said the ATM provides the general public with access to cryptocurrencies. Moreover, the ATM lets users pay for rent and other utilities with cryptocurrencies.

Zug has been recognized as Switzerland’s ‘Crypto Valley.’ Its government promotes both local and foreign investors in the blockchain industry with laws and regulations that enhance the ease of doing business in the blockchain and crypto industry.

Thanathorn asserted that Bitcoin and blockchain technology have the potential to benefit several industries in Thailand.

According to the Future Forward Part Leader, “With the rise of blockchain technology, Thailand has the opportunity to promote its people to participate in the blockchain community. If we can focus on developing blockchain, we can become one of the leaders in this industry.”
