The People’s Daily, the Chinese Communist Party’s official media outlet, has launched online courses on blockchain technology. The “Blockchain Academy,” which went live last month, was initiated in collaboration with the domestic community led by Financial Blockchain Shenzhen Consortium (FISCO BCOS), as reported by 36Kr news.

Blockchain Academy Offers Practical Technical Skills

The Academy’s platform offer free lessons for members of the general public who may be interested in the subject, with the goal of “improving learners’ ability to research, implement and share knowledge about blockchain.”

The courses offer two series of lessons that focus on different learning objectives. People can enroll for either lesson — one covering blockchain theory and technical knowledge and the other mainly having to do with the practical uses of blockchain technology.

According to the state-run newspaper, collaboration with FISCO BCOS allows the Academy to “create a secure and controllable blockchain platform that meets the requirements of the financial industry.”

The lessons are taught by influential blockchain advocates and are designed to cover different aspects of the technology, such as how to apply blockchain for specific use, how smart contracts impact the industry, etc.

China’s Govt: Blockchain is “10 Times More Valuable Than the Internet”

China’s President Xi Jinping endorsed blockchain technology at the annual academic conference hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in May last year. The Chinese government since then has been singing its praises, calling the technology “10 times more valuable than the internet.”

Blockchain talent is in high demand in China, as it seeks to pull ahead of other technologically advanced countries in an increasingly competitive tech race.
